AID, an Akima, LLCcompany provides support services to the federal and civilian agencies of the U.S Government as well as commercial organizations. Our core competencies include training and training system development, data and records management, information technology, administrative support, facilities operations and management, and base operations support services.

Member of a team that maintains grounds at Kirtland Air Force Base.Type of grounds maintained includes sod lawns, lawns of natural grasses, xeriscape areas, and landscaped lawns in commercial,industrial, and public property setting.Areas maintained include: roads, parking lots, buildings, airfields, parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Physically able and knowledgeable of how to perform activities like grass cutting (walker, riding, and tractor mowers), weed eating, edging, pruning, trimming, litter policing; storm drainage cleanup; tumbleweed removal; and snow/ice removal including plowing, salting/sanding.

  • Contributes to and is supportive of a comprehensive worker safety and health and environmental management program that prevents and reduces injuries, illnesses and losses and complies with holding company safety and environmental programs and guidelines.

  • Assists with special event set-ups and tear-downs, and provides designated visitor (DV)route support as needed.

  • Regularly uses exemplary employee skills including timeliness, safe operations, quality work, and adherence to schedule completion requirements.

  • Provides timely and accurate input to Lead or Supervisor so that maintenance management work system data collection, data input, and data retrieval is current and correct.

  • Provides timely identification of parts, materials, supplies needed to the Lead.

  • Maintains and repairs fencing to include but not limited to: chain link and barbed wire.

  • Assists in hauling, moving and setting up security measures to include barriers, cones and traffic control.

  • Shovel and dirt work when necessary, including drainage ditch clean out, tree and shrub planting/removal; flower bed installation; sod installation; lawn seeding.

  • Certified on the job and participate as a member of the CBRNE/HAZMAT Response Force.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

  • Two years of experience in grounds keeping or other trades preferred.

  • Experience working on a military base preferred.

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and skill in care of grounds maintenance tools and equipment; in working safely in an industrial setting; and in working in an outdoor environment in inclement weather including rain, snow, and ice.

  • Must be flexible and able to understand and carry out directions issued in English, both verbally and written.

  • Must be able to operate all grounds maintenance equipment.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, read up close, and work standing, riding, or pushing throughout the entire work day. Must be able to work in noisy environment and use appropriate PPE.
