Operator, Heavy Equipment and Commercial Trucks


AID, a wholly owned subsidiary of Akima, LLC, provides support services to the federal and civilian agencies of the U.S Government as well as commercial organizations. Our core competencies include training and training system development, data and records management, information technology, administrative support, facilities operations and management, and base operations support services.


  • Operates heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, power shovels, motor graders, rollers, bulldozers, carryalls, and scrapers. Typical equipment is used to excavate, load, move, scrape materials; grade roads and slopes;

  • Operates commercial trucks and large industrial tractors.

  • Knowledgeable and capable of installing and adjusting attachments such as blades, scrapers, buckets, cutters, plows, etc.

  • Required to perform basic maintenance & repair of all equipment operated.

  • Knowledgeable of working with cranes; has or is capable of learning rigging safety and communication skills.

  • Contributes to and is supportive of a comprehensive worker safety and health and environmental management program that prevents and reduces injuries, illnesses and losses and complies with holding company safety and environmental programs and guidelines.

  • Assists with special event set-ups and tear-downs, and provides designated visitor (DV) route support as needed.

  • Regularly uses exemplary employee skills including timeliness, safe operations, quality work, and adherence to schedule completion requirements.

  • Provides timely and accurate input to Lead or Supervisor so that maintenance management work system data collection, data input, and data retrieval is current and correct.

  • Provides timely identification of parts, materials, supplies needed to the Lead.

  • Assists in hauling, moving and setting up security measures to include barriers, cones and traffic control.

  • Certified on the job and participate as a member of the CBRNE/HAZMAT Response Force.



  • Must have and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License.

  • Must be drug free and pass random DOT drug screens.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

  • Five years of experience operating commercial trucks and/or heavy equipment with a clean safety record.

  • Experience working on a military base preferred.

  • Must be flexible and able to understand and carry out directions issued in English, both verbally and written.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, read up close, and work standing, riding, or operating throughout the entire work day. Must be able to work in noisy environment and use appropriate PPE.
