The Division 8000 Communications Department provides a broad range of services including: public and media relations, community relations, internal communications, employee engagement, sponsor and customer communications, creative services, and technical writing. We are seeking a Program Communications Specialist who plans, prepares, and maintains program-specific communications for targeted internal and external audiences including partners, sponsors, and customers, to enhance the program's effectiveness, impact, and reputation.
There are 2 Communication Specialist openings available supporting different organizations/departments . Departments are listed below.
-Renewable distributed systems and electric power systems
-Renewable Energy Program/Grid Modernization and resilient infrastructure.
Upon applying you will be considered for both and assignments will be chosen by organization managers based on relevant experience and best organizational fit.
Job Specifications On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Oversee communications for Renewable Energy Program team:
Participating in routine Communications calls with our funding agency
Communicating communications requirements to management and staff
Preparing annual accomplishments reports
Writing, editing, and managing newsletters
Writing and publishing blog posts
Drafting and editing sponsor communications
Creating and updating fact sheets, brochures, and posters (in partnership with a graphic designer)
Maintain website and other websites:
Update with upcoming events, achievements, technical publications, special honors, archived presentations, etc.
Working with a web developer, propose and execute organizational changes to website as needed
Manage communications for special events:
Prepare invitations, promotional material, agendas, and other communications
Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations
Report event outcomes
Knowledge, Skills, Ability Skill in writing, editing, oral communications, graphics design, audiovisual communication, public and government relations, photojournalism, or web design. Knowledge of Sandia's publication policies, business practices, and procedures. Proven ability to design, develop, and implement strategic communication programs and supporting tactics. Knowledge of marketing fundamentals, product branding, and tactics. Ability to translate technical concepts and material into compelling and persuasive communications products. Knowledge of business practices and Sandia's publication policies. Highly skilled in writing, editing, and oral communications; graphic design and audiovisual communication; or technical illustration and animation. Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and deliver strong results. Knowledge of the World Wide Web and solid computer skills.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field
Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
