Portico Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Akima LLC, is a one-stop construction company combining the services of a general contractor with self-perform electrical, communications, and utilities capabilities. We specialize in demolition/ renovation, high security construction, OCONUS renovations, and highway appurtenances.

The SSHO must ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project. Provide a safety oversight team that includes a minimum of one person at each project site to function as the Site Survey and Health Officer (SSHO). The SSHO or an equally-qualified Alternate SSHO must be at the work site at all times to implement and administer Replacement of Desiccant Air Handling Units 35-40 East and West Governmental Safety Requirements.

Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO and Alternate SSHO must have the required training, experience and qualifications in accordance with EM385-1-1 Section 01.A.17, and all associated sub-paragraphs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.

  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.

  • Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors, and make available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin board.

  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.

  • Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.

  • Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.

  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.

  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.

  • Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Occupational Safety and Healthor related field, 15 years specialized experience may qualify as a substitutefor a degree.

  • 5 years of safety Construction or Facilities Maintenance work experience.

  • OSHA 30 Hour Certificate required.

  • First-aid/CPR Certified.

  • Hazwoper Certification desired.

  • OSHA 500 Trainer preferred.

  • CSP certification preferred.
