Description

ASO provides logistics, facilities maintenance and operations, transportation and support services for mission-critical military installations and civilian agencies around the country. From the homes of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command to the highways of suburban Virginia, ASO experts and professionals work behind the scenes to ensure smooth and continuous operations.

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles; hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes; and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Performs unlocking of Building 8000 and assists with the start up of the building’s boiler and air compressors.

  • Submits work orders to have repairs made on the building.

  • Recycles materials within the Maintenance Department and Program Management Office.

  • Assists in maintaining the central grease and oil systems in Building 8000. Also assists with the daily safety checks.

  • Assists in maintaining the fuel point and assists with performing daily safety checks.

  • Operates the sweeper and assists with the daily PMCS on the sweeper.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :

Forklift, hand tools, power tools, motorized floor cleaning equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Work is generally conducted in a maintenance shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.

FREEDOM TO ACT:

Reports to the EHS Manager and functions somewhat independently under his guidance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience: 2 years experience working with and around machinery. Must have a basic

knowledge of hand tools, and power tools. Must have a working

knowledge of the repair of electrical, plumbing, heating systems.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License prior to start date or by 30 days after employment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be US Citizen and be able to receive a favorable background check and drug test results.
