Job Description

Summary

As an Aviation Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing aircraft systems and components to ensure their safe and efficient operation. Your duties will include conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs and replacements, and adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of aircraft systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

§ Conduct routine inspections of aircraft systems and components to identify any potential issues or areas of concern.

§ Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems, utilizing technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and your expertise in aircraft systems.

§ Perform repairs and replacements on aircraft systems and components, ensuring that all work is completed accurately and in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.

§ Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including documenting any parts used and the time spent on each task.

§ Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following established guidelines for working on aircraft.

§ Collaborate with other maintenance team members and aviation professionals to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.

§ Stay up-to-date with advancements in aircraft technology and industry regulations, attending training sessions and workshops as required.

§ Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and plans, ensuring that all aircraft are properly maintained and serviced on a regular basis.

§ Communicate effectively with pilots, crew members, and other aviation personnel to address any maintenance-related concerns or issues.

§ Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and accounted for.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

§ High school diploma or equivalent.

§ FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.

§ Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an Aviation Maintenance Mechanic.

§ Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, including engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and avionics.

§ Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

§ Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and tools used in aircraft maintenance.

§ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.

§ Attention to detail and a commitment to performing accurate and thorough inspections and repairs.

§ Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

§ Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with pilots, crew members, and other aviation professionals.

§ Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to aircraft maintenance.

§ Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.

§ Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

§ Willingness to travel as needed.

§ Current driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets NANA's insurance requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors and outdoors operating in diverse climates including exposure to inclement weather.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment ismoderate to high noise levels.

Description of environment: Diverse environments including office settings, airports, flight decks, and aircraft cabins.

Physical requirements: Possess adequate physical fitness to handle the physical like lifting heavy objects, tools, and equipment, standing, walking and working in uncomfortable positions. Manual dexterity to handle tools and other components with precision. Agility and flexibility to work in confined spaces within the aircraft structure as they may need to bend, crawl, kneel and reach into tight areas to access equipment and perform inspections and repairs. Good vision, including color vision as a crucial factor to distinguish color-coded wiring and safety markings. Hearing ability to detect and interpret auditory cues, such as abnormal sounds or equipment malfunctions and diagnosing problems. Respiratory health is essential as mechanics may work in environments where exposure to fumes, chemicals and airborne particles is possible.
