The SATCOM Technician is a member of a multi-functional team providing Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Services via commercial and military satellite communication ground stations to deployed Department of Defense (DoD) customers including National Guard and other special DoD customers at the Regional Hub Node (RHN) at Fort Bragg, NC. The SATCOM Technician’s technical, operational, and functional tasks spectrum includes performing Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks on all RHN systems and subsystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Works under the functional/operational supervision of the Station Manager/Assistant Station Manager.

  • Provides Tier II support for SATCOM equipment configurations, Troubleshooting and IAVM updates.

  • Submits, manages, processes, and resolves Tier II tickets.

  • Performs Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks on all RHN systems and subsystems with a thorough understanding in below functional areas:

  • Multiple Frequency Time Division Multiple Access (MF-TDMA)

  • Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)

  • Network Centric Wave Form (NCW) aka SATCOM on the move

  • Satellite tracking, Antenna drive and servo systems

  • Spectral analysis using a spectrum analyzer

  • Timing distribution Systems

  • SATCOM Theory

  • Provide exceptional customer service and professional presence.

  • Ability to read, speak and effectively communicate to high level personnel and government customer.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Minimum High School diploma plus6 years SATCOM operations and maintenance experience. Associates Degree or Trade School in Electronic Technology plus 4 years SATCOM operations and maintenance experience.

  • CompTIA Security at date of hire.

  • Experience resolving high level of problems to include recommending and implement alternative set-up and/or operations for complex systems.

  • Experience managing multiple projects and tasks.

  • Experience providing incident and after action reports and analysis.

Desired Skills/Certifications:

  • Advanced SATCOM Courses Global VSAT Forum (GVF) 510, 520, 521, 522,532, Host, 503i Edition 2.

  • Fundamentals of UNIX/LINUX.
