The Sr. IT/Baseband Technician is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) member of a multi-functional team providing Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Services via commercial and military satellite communications ground stations to deployed Department of Defense (DoD) customers including National Guard and other special DoD customers at the Regional Hub Node (RHN) at Fort Bragg, NC. The Sr. IT/Baseband Technician’s technical, operational, and functional tasks spectrum includes performing Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks on all RHN systems and subsystems.

Standard individual administrative tasks including individual time, timesheet, leave, and training completion; performance management; compliance with customer organization and company standards; performing other tasks as assigned and demonstrating proficiency, accuracy and attention to detail in assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Works under the functional/operational supervision of the Station Manager/Assistant Station Manager.

  • Provides Tier II support for SATCOM, Baseband, mission planning, equipment configurations and IAVM updates.

  • Submits, manages, processes, and resolves Tier II tickets.

  • Performs Subject Matter Expert (SME) Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks on all RHN systems and subsystems with a thorough understanding in below functional areas:

  • M TCP/IP protocol stacks (i.e. Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

  • Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) formatting

  • Analog Over Internet Protocol (IP) formatting

  • IPV(4) and IPV(6) IP addressing schemes

  • Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunneling architectures

  • VPN routing and forwarding

  • IP Switching and routing, to include routing metrics

  • IP Hardware configuration (switches, routers, etc.)

  • Network troubleshooting

  • Army IA and Security Policies

  • Anti-Virus Appliances

  • DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)

  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Windows XP Pro and Windows 2003 Enterprise Server), and CISCO Command Line

  • Provides on-site support in accordance with assigned shift schedule.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 years network configuration experience, or either an Associate Degree or Trade School in Information Technology plus 4 years network configuration experience.

Required Skills/Certifications.

  • DoD 8570.01-M IT Level IT-II (IAW AR 25-2).

  • Required Investigation: T3.

  • IA Certification Category & Level IAT-II (IAW DoD 8570.01-M).

  • Computing Environment Certification (CE) Security CE at date of hire

  • CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing & Switching (Course 200-125 CCNA or Course 100-105 ICND 1 and Course 200-105 INCD 2) within 6 months of hire

  • CPR Certification within 6 months of hire date.

  • High level of problem solving skills and the ability to recommend and implement alternative set-up and/or operations for complex systems.

  • Detail-oriented and possesses the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to provide incident and after action reports and analysis.

  • Excellent customer service skills and professional presence. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to read, speak and effectively communicate in the English language.

  • Solid work ethic

Desired Skills/Certifications.

  • Advanced SATCOM Courses GVF 510, 520, 521, 522,532, Host, 503i Edition 2 .

Additional Requirements.

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • SECRET Clearance.
