You will have the chance to develop valuable networking connections, which will help prepare and develop your skills for future career opportunities. The internship will include working in partnership with the Operations and Administration leads, as well as interactions with various PMs and executive leadership. You will end the internship with an overview understanding of contract types, management techniques and styles, how performance is evaluated, and the operational and administrative functions that help ensure project success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • PM Excellence - At Akima, project and program managers (PMs) are responsible for Quality Performance, Human Capital, Finances, Risk Identification and Management, Business Development, and Customer Satisfaction. You will have the opportunity to explore all these project management facets by participating in new PM orientations and PM training sessions, reviewing program metrics, evaluating and updating PM training, and providing tools to assist project managers in their role.

  • Program Performance – Through an examination of Akima’s program management review lifecycle, its purpose and intention, and the results, you will acquire insights into the government technical services contracting industry. You will work with senior leaders as they evaluate project performance and see how the Akima organization supports the individual operating companies. You will have the opportunity to understand the executive program management review (EPMR) process, participate in the preparation and conduct of an EPMR, and manage the associated follow-up activities.

  • Quality & Operational Performance – Akima has various quality certifications and continually works to implement process improvements. You will work with team members across the company to support quality management activities such as the development of processes and internal audit activities.

  • Safety – You will work with Akima’s corporate safety professionals to understand how safety performance is evaluated and how operational sites are supported in enhancing our safety culture.

  • Security – Much of Akima’s work requires operating companies and employees obtain security credentials. By working with Akima’s security professionals, you will gain an understanding of the requirements and processes to achieve and maintain these credentials, the interaction required with employment candidates to gain information for the clearance process, the various systems used to process security credentials, and reporting requirements to customers and the company.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a NANA Shareholder and own stock in “NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.”

  • Must be currently enrolled in college or technical/vocational school

  • Ability to absorb a wide variety of information and synthesize it to create a picture of the health of operational performance.

  • An interest in how multi-million-dollar contracts are managed.

  • Willingness to participate in both in-person and virtual meetings and discussions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • General office environment no special physical demands required.

  • Will require business travel to a project location to conduct the enhanced program management review.
