Job Summary:

Akima Facilities Operations (FSGA/HAAF) is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our team as a liaison between our Project Management Office based in Fort Stewart and our maintenance project located in Hunter Army Airfield at Savannah, GA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe working environment. They will work closely with the EHS Manager at the Project Management Office to support our commitment to environmental stewardship, employee health, and safety.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with project managers, supervisors, and employees, to implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Conducts regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.

  • Provides guidance and training to employees on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.

  • Stays current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to environmental protection, occupational health, and safety.

  • Assists in emergency response planning and participate in drills and exercises as needed.

  • Serves as a point of contact for EHS inquiries, concerns, and suggestions from employees and management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with excellent verbal and written fluency in English.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card within first 90 days of employment.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid GA state issued drivers license.

  • Proven experience in implementing EHS programs and managing regulatory compliance.

  • Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

  • Must complete OSHA10 & OSHA30 within the first 60 days of employment.

  • Must complete Fort Stewart’s Environmental Management Compliance Officers Course within 60 days of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the EHS field, preferably working in a military installation setting.
