Job Summary:

This inspector implements quality control and safety plans to ensure compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations, inspects all phases of a variety of goods, services or operation for conformity to established quality, health and safety, and other operational standards by performing on-going work for compliance with contractual provisions; ensures all performance metrics listed in the performance requirement summary are performed in a satisfactory manner, specifies areas to be inspected (scheduled and unscheduled) and how often inspections will be accomplished, communicates deficiencies to proper persons, maintains Quality Control files, and document results of all inspections.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that equipment, performance and quality conform to established company and regulatory standards governed in the Government Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP), Technical Manuals (TMs), Technical Bulletins (TBs), Lubrication Orders (LO), Modification Work Orders MWO), Safety of Use Messages (SOUM) and Maintenance Advisory Messages (MAM).

  • Must have operational/maintenance knowledge on a variety of military platforms to include M1 Abrams models, M109 Paladin models, M2/M3/M7 Bradley models, M88A2 Recovery Vehicle, XM1150 ABV, HMME-I, M1074/1075/1120 FOV, JLTV FOV, HEMMT FOV, HMMWV FOV as well as a variety of Ground Support Equipment and trailers.

  • Completes reports on quality discrepancies (QDR) related to fault diagnosis, assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical and hydraulic systems.

  • Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.

  • Interfaces with manufacturing, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

  • Utilizes Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to ensure compliance of parts from vendors and manufacturers.

  • Research required repair parts and records on DA Form 5988E for ordering and installation.

  • Responsible for initial, in-process and final inspections and for the quality throughout the maintenance process. Responsible for rejection of defective workmanship.

  • Completes Estimated Cost of Repairs (ECOR) and Estimated Cost of Damages (ECOD) as required.

  • Classify equipment based on maintenance expenditure limits (MEL).

  • May supervise repairs to ensure quality standards are met and conduct or supervise joint inspections with owning unit customer representatives.

  • Performs trend analysis on failures and quality deficiencies found. Advises the Maintenance Manager on the man-hour to task analysis, cost estimates for repair and the repair parts sustainment issues that hinder the quality and timeliness of product delivery to the customer.

  • Ensures compliance with ISO 9001-2015 procedures to define and document the process used for Maintenance Procedures in support of the Installation Maintenance Division (IMD) AFSBn-Stewart for Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

  • Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications for above mentioned work.

  • Maintenance QC will perform daily inspections of contractor and/or carrier performance of completed maintenance actions for compliance with DOD and Service Regulations and Performance Work Statement requirements.

  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling very heavy parts and loads. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.

  • Maintains tools and equipment and clean work areas to maintain a safe work environment. Be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions when necessary.

  • Ensures that all tasks are performed safely and meet Government/Army standards.

  • Wears safety items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) e.g. gloves, safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection, and other items as appropriate.

  • Employee is required to maintain a valid state-issued Driver’s license and applicable Government/Army license.

  • Performs other duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • 4-6 years of quality control inspector experience in the grade of E-6 or civilian equivalent.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of the appropriate tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks as well as have knowledge of standardized maintenance regulations – specifically DA Pam 750-8, Functional User’s Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.

  • Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to complete and prioritize tasks on multiple concurrent projects within given timeframes.

  • Work well in a team environment and able to work with a diverse group of people.

  • Discretion and trustworthiness, due to frequent contact with confidential material.

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and all others in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

  • Must possess working knowledge of the Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program (AESIP), Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A) application software as well as TACOM-Unique Logistics Support Applications (TULSA).

  • Must be able to pass a background security investigation as well as drug/alcohol screening prior to employment.

  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • U.S Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91 series.

  • Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) issued by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) or equivalent organization.

  • Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent organization.

Physical Demands:

  • Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs.; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to the weather. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to, head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.
