Job Summary:

During Akima’s Summer STEM Program Internship you will participate in focused training, and team meetings, work on an individual project, and present your results to executives. During your internship, you will be supported by operational leadership who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to develop your technical and interpersonal skills. The aim is to use this program as a pathway to future employment here at Akima.

Responsibilities

During the summer internship you will participate in a comprehensive company and team-specific training program to include on-the-job learning with technical and operational leaders. This internship is designed to provide you with a valuable learning experience in the Science, Information and Engineering technology and mathematical fields while contributing to our company's continued success during a period of rapid growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers and professional leaders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment.

  • Must be a student who is enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university.

  • Must be majoring in an engineering or computer science-related field.

  • Strong technical aptitude with a passion for technology and problem-solving.

  • Basic understanding of IT concepts, including hardware, software, networks, and security.

  • Familiarity with Window operating systems and common software applications.

  • Prefer junior or senior, but will consider other class levels.

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to pass a background check.

  • Must be within commuting distance to Herndon, VA.

  • May be required to travel locally to job sites.
