Job Introduction Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking

individuals who can contribute to national security within the science,

technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at

vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department

of Energy. AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of

their customers mission. Available employment opportunities may range from

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of

requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier

government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and

well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore

National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by AIS, the employee will

take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the

research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management

functions are provided by AIS.

The selected candidate will

be responsible for performing a variety of digital large-format output, fabrication

and mounting of printed materials, document bindery, and publication processing

operations within a Laboratory printing services organization. They will plan

methods and procedures required to provide timely, efficient, and cost

effective printing services. The selected candidate will provide general

support in large-format printing using a variety of media including paper,

cloth, banner, and vinyl; laminating and mounting large-format posters;

application of vinyl materials on a variety of substrates, (i.e., walls,

plastic, vehicles, metal); high-speed document and film scanning; and document

bindery. Perform specialized computer, printer and digital media processing and

operational duties. This position will receive direction from a team lead and will

report to a Group Leader within TID.

This position may require the successful candidate have the

flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The

successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules

to pursue work assignments.

Job Description

Essential Duties

  • Provide general support in operation of a variety of large-format printing and/or digital media equipment, high-speed optical copier and scanners.

  • Provide general support in the output of digital files to a variety of wide format media, which include paper, vinyl,cloth, and banner materials.

  • Provide general support in area of mounting and laminating of large format posters.

  • Assist with repair and calibration of laboratory print equipment.

  • Performs routine computer, printer and digital media processing to produce moderately complex printed or scanned documents and posters.

  • Scan a wide variety of material and make density level corrections as required which could include the scanning of,paper, negative or positive film, radiograph film and prints.

  • Use Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator,Roland Versaworks, and Powerpoint to make moderate to complex changes to digital files and modify or create pdf documents

  • Document and invoice completed projects timely

  • Work in a collaborative environment which gives you the freedom to learn, grow, and explore

  • Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.

Marginal Duties

  • Provide general support in operation of traditional bindery equipment including folders, staplers, punches, drills,cutters and shrink wrap.

  • May plan, schedule, and invoice printing/digital media work orders.

  • Work in other on-site locations to perform digital output installations.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Associates of Arts (AA) degree in Printing/Digital Media or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Experience performing intermediate computer, printer and digital media processing including digital data and film handling, printing/ scanning practices and techniques, preparing digital media and graphics, and related application of advanced printing and/or digital media equipment.

-Intermediate knowledge of computer hardware/software for working on a Mac or PC platform.

-Intermediate knowledge of printing and/or digital media equipment for repair and calibration.

-Intermediate knowledge of publishing software used in digital document touch up,media processing and preservation.

  • Customer service focused

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience in operating Roland, Epson, and HP large format printers with different media types.

  • Experience in installing vinyl materials on walls and other surfaces.

  • Experience in operating large format lamination equipment, hot and cold materials.

  • Experience in shooting photography using digital SLR equipment and use of Lightroom or Photoshop for image processing

Special Requirements

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level).
