Job Introduction Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customers mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age , and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
The Information and Personnel Security Division (IPSD) has an opening for a Secretary III to work within the Central Clearance and Security Awareness Section, which is comprised of five teams: Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP); Preliminary Background Investigations (PBI), Classified Visits, Grants/Terminations, and Security Awareness. Under limited supervision, work as part of a team to provide moderately difficult task-oriented administrative support related to long-term site access or clearance requests. Position requires a high level of customer service in order to carry out duties in a manner congruent with customer needs. The position requires interacting with all levels of personnel within the Laboratory and Albuquerque Service Center, as well as external to the Laboratory. This position reports to the Central Clearance Section supervisor.
This position may require the Secretary III have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.
Receive and screen various clearance- or access-related forms (e.g., Questionnaire for National Security Positions, Site Access Security Questionnaire and/or employment application forms) to ensure information reported is accurate and complete, and request additional information if necessary.
Track and monitor processing of forms to ensure compliance with pre-determined timeframes.
Enter data into appropriate databases for tracking, monitoring and statistical purposes.
Compose, coordinate and compile administrative reports, spreadsheets, documents and correspondence on own initiative for supervisor’s approval.
Assist in maintaining filing systems.
Represent team in interactions with persons external to the Laboratory to facilitate successful completion of assignments (e.g., OPM/FBI investigators, and/or Human Resources).
Participate with other team members to update and revise desk books.
Set up conference room for briefings.
Assist with fingerprinting.
Provide assistance to other areas within the Personnel Security Division as needed.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills; communicate clearly; possess tact and discretion to interact effectively with a variety of personnel and all levels of management.
Experience in a customer service environment with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers and co-workers.
Demonstrated strong analytical skill with ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems.
Attention to detail with accurate typing and proofreading skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize own workload and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
Ability to function effectively either in a solitary or team environment, and be self-motivated.
Proficiency on personal computers and word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Familiar with MSWord, MS Excel and FileMaker Pro software.
Experience with web-based applications.
