Job Summary:

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages, directs and supervises weather technicians providing weather warning and forecast services to the installation.

  • Provides technical expertise and ensures the application of the latest technologies designed to enhance local forecasting techniques.

  • Provides for the overall administrative management of the weather office and its personnel.

  • Maintains and/or improves interrelationships between the National Weather Service (NWS) and other government agencies to deliver accurate weather forecasting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Be able to pass a NACI background investigation and obtain a public trust clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or other natural science major that included at least 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of credit in meteorology/atmospheric science.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in meteorology.

  • Minimum of three years leading a meteorological forecasting, warning and weather service program.
