Job Summary:

AIS is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work in Oak Ridge, TN.

Qualified candidate will serve in a Lead Electrical Engineer or support capacity coordinating and performing electrical engineering activities. Electrical engineering work may include but is not limited to existing equipment and infrastructure evaluations, load calculations, equipment sizing and selection (switchgear, disconnects, MCCs, etc.), single line and raceway drawings, generating electrical bill of materials and scopes of work supporting procurement and subcontracts, developing and executing test plans. Understanding of arc flash calculations (SKM) is a plus. Will support installation of startup of designs in the field, Requires the ability to communicate with the craft staff and supervisors.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Researches, develops, designs, tests, and evaluates electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Designs, and may direct engineering personnel in, fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.

  • Provides technical advice and perform technical functions as directed by their supervisor, line management, project engineer, or Engineering Manager.

  • Supports achievement of line management objectives.

  • Provides timely response to project and functional requests, as required.

  • Retains and exercises responsibility and accountability to their functional management for technical implementation of their function within the integrated project team.

  • Interfaces with their own functional management on work standards and requirements, lessons learned, work process initiatives, and technical issue resolution.

  • Implements the training and qualification processes required by functional management for functional personnel.

  • Participates in the assessment process to ensure safe and effective implementation.

  • Implements company-wide procedures/programs/systems from their respective functional area within the integrated.project team.

  • Identifies engineering and technology needs that are required to reduce the risk and uncertainty associated with the program or individual projects.

  • Ensures that engineering activities and engineered items comply with applicable federal and state regulatory requirements (e.g., DOE, Environmental Protection Agency, and Tennessee), and apply appropriate industry standards and codes.

  • Provides for safety in engineering activities and resulting designs, plans and instructions, via the ISMS process and appropriate engineering safety management programs.

  • Ensures that technical personnel are trained to the functional procedures.

  • Ensures that appropriate requirements flow to project implementing plans, procedures, instructions, and subcontractor documents.

  • Provides occasional technical support to other projects and functional group.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Two years experience in engineering.
