The Unix Security Administrator will provide system security services to DISA DECC at Hill AFB, UT. The administrator will coordinate with government client and contractor personnel to ensure system security posture is maintained and compliant with DoD and other standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESUT

  • Monitor security logs for violations and unauthorized traffic; report and respond to incidents as required

  • Evaluate, prepare and load patches to enhance performance, operations, and security

  • Support customer problem resolution process to resolve errors in system software identified by DECC

  • Develop and present reports for solutions/findings; coordinate with client’s Task Manager on deliverables

  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed systems; conduct security evaluations, audits and reviews; prepare reports and recommendations based on findings

  • Ensure compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) directives for all UNIX assets

  • Facilitate the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in prosecution of computer crimes

  • Provide training on UNIX and cybersecurity subject matter areas for less skilled technicians in the assigned technical area of expertise. Charts and graphs maybe required. Troubleshoot problems and implement changes in assigned area.

  • Participate in rotating on call Cell Phone. On call phone is rotated weekly.

  • Provide Monthly report on activities completed and duration of activities.

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

  • Must have active TOP SECRET with SCI

  • Bachelor's Degree in directly related field. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, equivalent work experience can be substituted

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems administration, systems security, patch/configuration management

  • Working knowledge of Unix systems such as HP-UX, Red Hat, SUSE, Solaris, Linux, and AIX

  • Working knowledge of database and web technologies and techniques for determining their presence on a system.

  • Familiarity with Information Assurance Officer duties to perform as an alternate

  • Support UNIX security error diagnosis, testing strategies, and problem resolution

  • Experience with DISA STIG and UNIX SRR requirements desired

  • Network operations and troubleshooting skills

  • Professional certifications in UNIX systems and/or CISSP strongly desired

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be willing to work outside of regular workday hours, flexible hours, weekends and holidays, as necessary, to support client

  • Office environment, network lab environment, server rooms, customer IT equipment rooms

  • May be required to support offsite events/activities

  • May occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
