The Metrology Technician is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) member of a multi-functional team providing Department of Technical Support Services to the Federal Aviation Administration Logistic Center (FAALC) at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Logistic Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

The Metrology Technician’s technical, operational, and functional tasks spectrum includes providing metrology technician services to the various FAALC Group/Product Divisions to help assure that test equipment meets the serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements including troubleshooting, repair, assembly, installation, calibration, and certification within the guidelines of ISO-9001/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 national standards, FAA and FAALC standards, and job order instructions.

Standard individual administrative tasks including individual time, timesheet, leave, and training completion; performance management; compliance with customer organization and company standards; performing other tasks as assigned and demonstrating proficiency, accuracy and attention to detail in assigned duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Works under the functional/operational supervision of the Shop Lead and/or Technical Manager/Project Manager.

  • Tests equipment, subsystems, and components, troubleshoots, repairs, tests, and calibrates test equipment so as to return unserviceable equipment to serviceable status. Items to be repaired may include oscilloscopes, spectrum, network, logic, and LCR analyzers, radar, communication, and ILS test sets, multimeters, power meters and power sensors, signal and function generators, frequency counters, and other specialized systems equipment. The repair process may include functions such as item disassembly/assembly, circuit analysis, and item repair and parts replacement.

  • Completes the applicable calibration and certification process; performs and documents all process functions as specified by ISO-9001/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 national standards, FAA and FAALC standards.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Precision Measurement Equipment (PME) certification from a Military Technical School, or A.A.S. degree in electronics, or certified PME training record.

  • Two (2) years' of relevant Work Experience.

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • High level of problem solving skills and the ability to recommend and implement alternative set-up and/or operations for complex systems.

  • Detail-oriented and possesses the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to provide incident and after action reports and analysis.

  • Excellent customer service skills and professional presence.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to read, speak and effectively communicate in the English language.

  • Solid work ethic.
