NANA Regional Corporation EHS Coordinator in Red Dog Mine, Alaska
Reporting to the Tuuq General Manager, the EHS Coordinator is responsible for providing Environment, Health and Safety (“EHS”) leadership to the Tuuq drilling operations as well as communicating EHS program performance to Tuuq’s management team and the Client’s on-site representative. Particular attention will be paid to; providing on-site EHS training and support for all Tuuq personnel, documenting and follow-up reporting of all incidents and ensuring that all Tuuq and personnel assigned to the project, follow and maintain all Tuuq EHS policies and procedures as well as all Client EHS policies and procedures designed to maintain and promote a safe and environmental responsible work environment.
Will lead, train and support all on-site Tuuq project personnel on all EHS matters, both in-field and in-camp;
Will document and report all EHS incidents to Tuuq’s management team and the Client’s on-site representative as required and on a timely basis. Reporting will include but not be limited to the following:
Incident Quick Report (within 24 hours);
Incident Report; including personnel statements and photographs
Root Cause Analysis;
Corrective Action Plan; and
Other EHS information or documentation that may be require by; Tuuq or the Client.
Will prepare leading and lagging EHS statistics and documentation as required for Tuuq and the Client;
Will ensure all Tuuq personnel are performing their assigned duties in accordance with Tuuq’s EHS policies and procedures, the Client’s EHS policies and procedures as well as identifying any EHS issues and communicating any such issues to Tuuq’s management team;
Will assist the Project Supervisor to ensure all on-site Tuuq personnel are equipped with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) and maintain an inventory of such equipment to supply current and future employee needs;
Will assist the Project Supervisor to lead weekly operational meetings with Tuuq’s management team. Will be required to prepare and communicate:
EHS incidents, reporting and follow-up;
Other EHS issues that may occur from time-to-time.
Will develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Client’s on-site EHS representative as well as other on-site personnel of the Client, including maintaining day-to-day communication, fulfilling Client EHS instructions or requests;
Will develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Tuuq Project Supervisor, including day-to-day communication; and
Will prepare end-of-shift cross-over notes for the incoming EHS Coordinator, Foreman and Field Supervisors to ensure seamless project representation and that the Client’s directions and instructions are maintained and followed at all times.
TECHNICAL & GENERAL COMPETENCIES
A minimum of five (5) years of EHS related supervisory experience.
Must have specific exposure to remote, fly supported drill program work.
The ability to review, modify and implement safety management plans to be in compliance with MSHA and OSHA , also client requirements. OSHA experience preferred but not required.
Familiarity with drilling activities and ability to critically and proactively analyze EHS processes.
Experience with project and process EHS management.
Demonstrated critical and conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel as required.
Advanced written and oral English as well as the ability to communicate all EHS related matters to Tuuq and the Client.
Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills and experience working with a broad range of people;
Positive rapport with others and is effective in managing relationships through openness, honesty and cooperation;

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. Specific close vision is required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold non weather and to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the stamina to work on 12 hour shifts for extended periods of time.
