NANA Regional Corporation Oiler – Red Dog Mine, AK – Rotational in Red Dog Mine, Alaska

Job Description

The Oiler operates/drives equipment and disassembles cranes and other equipment; oils and greases parts such as shafts and motor bearings, sprockets, drive chains, gears and pulleys, etc.; fills containers, such as oil can, grease gun or tank of lubrication truck with specified lubricant; may clean machines and transport stock.

Responsibilities

  • Oils and greases moving parts of friction surfaces of mechanical equipment, such as shaft and motor bearings, sprockets, drive chains, gears, and pulleys, according to specified procedures and oral instructions:

  • Fills container, such as oilcan, grease gun, or tank of lubrication truck with specified lubricant.

  • Forces grease into bearings with grease-gun, smears grease on friction surfaces, or packs grease cups by hand.

  • Operates and drives various pieces of equipment as needed to complete project demands.

  • Forces grease into bearings with grease-gun, smears grease on friction surfaces, or packs grease cups by hand.

  • Stops unsafe work and performs thorough risk assessment before every job.

  • Report and correct unsafe conditions or hazards.

  • Assures work is performed safely, to code and to meets standards.

  • Resolve any disruptions or problems in workflow or activities.

  • Completes safety walk through checklists of various areas.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Minimum one (1) year related experience.

  • A valid CDL license and passenger endorsement.

  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients.

  • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.

  • Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation.

  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee must regularly lift, move and /or carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified.
