Engineering Technician I


Truestone, an Akima, LLC company delivers complex systems and network services that facilitate military and federal agency operations. Our teams work on USN and Coast Guard vessels, we also provide Enterprise IT lifecycle support for end users at multiple locations - safeguarding the lives of Americans, our allies, and our way of life.

Engineering Technician I is responsible for supporting a variety of tasking to include cabling,fabrication, assembly,and installation of equipment.This position completes simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures.This position requires the ability to work within a team environment, in the field or in a lab/office environment. Assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts; and services or repairs simple instruments or equipment, which may require simple wiring, soldering, or connecting. Conducts a variety of tests using established methods, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment and records test data, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.


  • Assists in the repair of electrical and electronic equipment as needed.

  • Performs shipboard and shore site (project based) electronics installations, upgrades, field changes IAW applicable military, federal, and/or industrial standards under close supervision.

  • Works well within a team environment.

  • Possess and properly utilize installation hand tools such as screw drivers, wrenches, tie-wrap guns, connector crimpers, wire strippers, side cutters, and electrical scissors among many others.

  • Interpret technical drawings or publications in order to execute a specific task.

  • Travel to job sites as required by the PM and IAW the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR).

  • Installation of electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, lagging.

  • Use of power tools.



Minimum Qualifications:


Required – High School Diploma or GED.

Desired – Associates Degree.


  • Ability to use a computer (email, basic office applications).

  • Familiarity and competence with hand tools.

  • Basic understanding of electricity.

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Ability to gain and maintain access to shipyards and government facilities as required by contract.

  • Applicants also must be willing to work more than 40 hour work weeks.

  • Ability to work in a shipboard environment.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

  • C4ISR Experience.

  • Shipboard installation or maintenance experience.

  • Experience understanding of circuits and connectors.
